Omega has that name because when referred to the Greek alphabet Omega means achievement and perfection. In the year of 1848, when Louis Brandt was 23 years old he opened a sales office for the purpose of manufacturing watches. The brothers Louis and César Brandt established a watch production unit when they leased a floor of a building to get their business started. They have produced many watches in their time; a few of them are named Gurzelen, Helvetia, Celtic, Patria, Jura and many more.

Just four years after the Labrador lever movement was introduced in 1885, Fils and Louis Brandt later develop into the biggest manufactures of wristwatches in the whole of Switzerland. By that time there production rate was more than 100,000 watches. And that amount just keeps on growing, Omega started out by producing splendid watches and that will continue until the watches are no more.

It was not long after that his masterpieces where highly known for the high excellence of precision and craftsmanship, which made it ideal for the timing of sports trials. The brand was established on high chronological values with much emphasis placed on modernization along with an infatuation for sports. Edouard had an obsession with precision, when the workshop was founded Heuer only had one aspiration, which was to take time measurement to a different level. Preceding this, the company has constantly been known to be in the ahead of its time of timepiece making, be it in the areas of technology or the resources chosen for designs. The mastery of the primary chronograph, measuring just 100ths of a second was shown in the impressive number of patents, which made Tag Heuer one of the key positioning in the creation of Swiss timepiece making recognition.

1933 saw the launch of the first ever console stopwatch built for race cars. In 1950, Tag Heuer made known the Mareograph-Seafarer, this instrument was based to be tagged with chronographically built in functions as well as a tide gauge. The once famous Joe Siffert, whom during 1969 to 1971 was sponsored by means of Heuer. Taking place to the Ferrari era, Tag Heuer was returned by the McLaren Team of F1. Aytron Senna, in 1988 became the new ambassador to Tag Heuer. His charisma and multiple winning of the world victor title in the Formula One world made him the delegate of the S/el series. During 1990 Tag Heuer became the authorized time keeper for Formula 1 seen Aytron Senna winning the Formula One Championships both for constructors and drivers.

The store was called “K.Hattori” and it was opened in the city of Tokyo in Japan. Kintaro started producing clocks eleven years after he opened the store and used the name Seikosha. The name Seiko was chosen for the line of watches because it means success, minute or exquisite in Japanese.

The first Seiko watches were introduced in the year of 1924 and 42 years later the Seiko Astron watch was introduced. This watch was a big hit as it was the first quartz watch produced in the world. When this watch first hit the stores it was approximately the same price one would pay for a new car. Once the buzz of this particular watch subsided, Seiko watches then introduced the world’s first quartz chronograph. Then Seiko and Orient watches went into partnership together in 1985.

Seiko watches have also been used in many of the main sporting events because they are known for their accurate timekeeping and excellent quality of watches. Seiko watches were used at the Olympic Games as well as many soccer FIFA world cups in Italy, Argentina, Mexico and Spain.

Seiko has undergone many changes over the years, some of them include;

• In 1917 Seiko was incorporated

• In 1983 it was renamed Hattori Seiko Co

• In 1990 was renamed again, this time to Seiko Corporation

• It turned into a holding company in the year 2001

• In 2007 it was renamed Seiko Holdings Corporation and remains that way today

At the beginning Leon’s intention was to construct first-rate technological watches. Leon started specializing in chronographic designs in the year 1915, this after moving his factory to Grenchen. After this he made some significant developments in this area, which guided Breitling to becoming the original manufacturer of watches to initiate a sole push piece for the chronograph. In 1934, the second push button was added which enabled increasing time recording. Breitling was the choice of the RAF to supply them with a timepiece as well as the US armed services. The Breitling paved their place in the flying industry and started supplying clocks for cockpits of intercontinental airlines.

The Chronomat was launched in 1942, which was developed with the first chronographically spherical slide.
